The Act on Registration and Evaluation of Chemical Substances (known as K-REACH) has been enforced since January 1, 2015, and the recent amendment has come into force on January 1, 2019. The purpose of K-REACH is to protect public health and the environment via four dimensions: Registration of chemical substance; screening of hazardous chemicals; hazard and risk assessment of products containing chemical substances and hazardous substances; sharing information of chemical substances.
Joint dossier preparation and submission is one of the obligations under K-REACH. Manufacturers and importers of the same substance shall form a CICO (Chemicals Information Communicative Organization), which is a substance registration committee like a SEIF in the EU. The first deadline for K-REACH registration applies to those in quantities above 1000 TPA.
