Active ingredient Biocides

In this webinar, we will give you an overview onthe most relevant updates on the agrochemical compliance landscape in 2023. The webinar will focus two regions with major relevance, India and EU:

India
The use of pesticides in India is regulated by the Central board of Insecticide and Registration committee (CIBRC) under the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare. Based on the recommendations of the Expert Committee a comprehensive Insecticides Act was passed in 1968 to regulate the import, manufacture, sale, transport, distribution, and use of insecticides.

Recently the CIBRC has revised the guidelines and data requirements for the registration of agrochemicals in India.

EU
The European Union has finalized the amended regulations regarding biopesticides in (EU) Nos. 546/2011 and 1107/2009 (Annex II). They lay out standardized principles and criteria for assessing and authorizing plant protection products and microorganism active substances. The new regulations comply with the ‘Farm to Fork strategy’ and the ‘European Green Deal’.

The new rules noted from November 2022, facilitate the approval of micro-organisms for use as active substances in plant protection products and the authorization of products containing them. The purpose is to give farmers across the European Union better access to biological alternatives to chemical pesticides so that they can protect their crops in a more sustainable manner.
