 Background:

REACH stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals. It entered into force on 1 June 2007. REACH is a regulation of the European Union, adopted to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risks that can be posed by chemicals, while enhancing the competitiveness of the EU chemicals industry. The Implementation of EU-REACH prompted various countries globally to adopt similar chemical regulations.

South Korea, for instance, implemented K-REACH from January 1, 2015, with its most recent amendment effective from October 14, 2021. This act's primary focus is the registration, reporting, and evaluation of chemical substances, alongside the designation and management of hazardous chemicals.

After South Korea REACH like regulation, Turkey initiated KKDIK under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change on June 23, 2017. This regulation is aimed to replace existing chemical laws by 2024, marking a significant shift in the country's approach to chemical management and safety.
